Something horrible happened here this week. You must be living under a rock if you don't know what we're talking about. We don't want to talk about the atrocities. We don't want to give them what they want. Instead we want to talk about how amazing this city is. Some of us are local, some of us are not. It doesn't matter. We have all come together in the most wonderful of ways to show our support for those who were affected by this awful disaster.
We both went to the vigil held on Tuesday. It was incredible to see, not even 24 hours after the attack, so many people, strangers, comforting each other. The atmosphere was profound. The impact of the applause of thousands of people who refuse to be broken by this, but also the silence of the people who respect the enormity of this tragedy.
Almost instantly, people were offering up their homes, their kettles, and their support to complete strangers, asking how they could help, queueing up to donate blood. We are so proud to live here, to be part of this extraordinary community. They will not destroy us, they can't even stop us shopping.
Peace, love and Mancunian pride,
