We've all had it. You wander off to your studio / making space, with a vague plan of what you might like to have a go at. Then you sit and stare at the wall or scroll through Facebook until you decide it's time to go home and eat.
I have discovered some pages to share with you to (am I allowed to say 'Justify'?) this mind block.
So, get yourself a nice big brew (and the packet of biscuits), chill out, give them a read then make your BIG PLAN!
99U have broken down different types of blocks to help us understand the types and what to do about them
Creative Bloq have provided you 20 ways to get over your problems
AAAANNNDDDDD finally, one of my favourites, Goins, Writer, 13 weird ways to work through it
It's far too easy to sit and scroll through social media, wishing you were that other person with 3 million likes. Then trying to adapt your work to look like theirs.. it doesn't work. It most certainly doesn't help you.
You need to sit down with your own work- pull everything out of your portfolio, gather your favourites and see where you can move forwards from there. Add in a new technique or colour and run with it, experiment and take photos, you'll soon appreciate your new range of work!
One of my favourite things to do in the studio is to take everything off the walls, and then put it all back on again- but in different arrangements, added extras and remove some bits and pieces.
So. I hope you get something from these pieces of advice, I would LOVE to hear more from you!
What was your favourite piece of advice? what is your usual block busting trick? Do you have any advice to share?
Lots of love, Moll x
